I just finished this book and the other reviewers are correct - once I started it, I could not put it down until I was finished. This is one of the most amazing stories I've read lately - it's beautiful, tragic, haunting and amazing all wrapped up together. Throughout the whole story I kept hoping this young girl found happiness at some point, and she did have moments of happiness but they were all too fleeting. I highly recommend this book - it is beautifully written. Kudos to the author.Product details

Held my interest from beginning to end, It shows the strength of the human spirit and the power of love,revenge and forgiveness.
but I'll give it a try....a bit dark for me, but I haven't finished yet, so hopefully it will improve....
What an intense story! My heart broke for this young girl. It's amazing that her attitude never changed through these circumstances. Recommended to lovers of coming of age stories.
This was a well-written book and had few errors such as typos, so it appeared to have had some editing done. Rose had quite an adventure during her life, but it was all so incredibly violent and sad.
I picked this up for free on kindle, not a book i would normally read as it is very intense, but glad I did.
I was hooked by the story line so much I could not put the book down from start to end. so well written 3 days later I'm still thinking about it!!.
The character Rose begins as a child in an inexplicably abusive household. After running away, she falls providentially into the hands of a kind stranger who, coincidentally, just happened to have lost his wife and a child just Rose’s age in a car wreck. He takes her in, christening her ‘Tink’. He, in turn, was conveniently killed off in order to propel her ahead into the next contrived situation whereupon she was taken in by a heart-of-gold whore with a benevolent pimp who used “Babygirl,’ as she was now known, as a tease but was never required to put out. When her friend ‘Precious’ was killed atrociously by some evil johns and she decided to leave the business, she did so with the full blessing of Frank the pimp and a gift of $10,000. From there it was another leap into serendipitous events, convenient and useful acquaintances and yet another unproblematic change of identity. Somewhere through all this, she contracted some fatal disease that was never identified but found a way to make it back through a swamp to find her father and bestow upon him her forgiveness before dramatically expiring in the arms of her unrequited boyfriend.
The entire tale was random and contrived. The stilted dialogue, the cavalier explanations of implausible chains of events and the lack of punctuation, particularly in regard to commas and proper nouns, left me feeling that the author had no real commitment to crafting a readable story.
Hard to believe this story could has been written by a first-time writer, because it has all the markings of a seasoned, veteran writer who is in complete control of his/her craft. This is a man, writing from a woman's point of view, that is totally believable, completely involving and intensely dramatic. You won't be able to put it down. I can't wait to read more by this author!
